Let me update you with our present situation. My wife underwent a very successful 4-hour operation at Polymedic Hospital. The operation was done by a christian ortho surgeon, Dr. Jose Aliling. She was discharged from the Hospital last Friday. I praise God for how He has graciously provided for our needs. Actually, when I decided to have her knee operated in a private hospital, I just trusted the Lord to provide for our needs. My first concern was my wife's safety.Anyway, on our last day at the hospital, our bill was 58,000 pesos, excluding doctors' fees (Surgeon, monitoring doctor and anesthesiologist). To my amazement, the surgeon and the monitoring doctor did not charge me anything and the anesthesiologist gave me 50% discount.I was told that the surgeon could have charged me P80,000 for that kind of operation and the other doctor, P20,000. With my Philhealth deduction, I only paid the hospital 45,000 plus my payment of 16,000 to the anesthesiologist which amounted to 61,000 pesos. Here's the breakdown of my payment: P21,000 ( dotnations from churches and individuals) and P40,000 (I borrowed from my home church).Continue to pray for our needs. After two weeks, my wife will start her therapy.

Because of my wife's situation, I have to give up many of my speaking engagements and delegate them to some of our IGS volunteers. Her physical condition requires that I should be with her all the time to attend to her needs.I do the cooking and marketing while my children do some of the household chores. So far, we are coping up with the situation. To make my time productive while at home is to do my masteral assignments as well.

Regarding my filght to the US which is scheduled on Sept 20, it is temporarily cancelled till my wife is fully recovered.

Pray for our on going Advanced Studies for pastors and workers:
Aug. 20 - in Antipolo (TEacher - Rev,Conrado Edpao: Subject: Ecclesiology)
Aug 25 - in Pampanga (cancelled due to flood in the area)
Aug. 27 - in Laguna (Teacher - Rev. Conrado Edpao: Subject: Ecclesiology)
Aug. 27 - in Pangasinan (TEacher - Rev. Mike Menez: Subject: Anthropology)

Sept 2 - I am scheduled to speak in the launching of our tagalog service of my home church. In the Afternoon, I will speak in our daughter church in Teresa. Rizal for its anniversary.

I would like to thank you for your prayers and financial gifts for my wife's operation. May God bless you in return.

addt'l

Here is a short update on my wife's situation. She is now undergoing therapy. I am the one doing it for her. Her doctor just taught me how to do it. I am also the one cleaning her wound. So now I am therapist and a nurse at the same time. I also do the cooking and marketing while my children do some of the household chores since they also go to school. So now I am a fulltime "house-band" to my family. It is hard but I am beginning to enjoy my different roles. Anyway, this situation is only temporary. But I have learned a lot of things out of this difficult situation. I believe that God is just redirecting my focus and priorities. God is really good all the time. In spite of my limited ministry engagements, IGS ministry keeps on because of volunteers who are willing to take part. Let me share with you some our ministries:

Lessons in Job

Job 1:20-21 20 At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship 21 and said:“Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised."  Lesson: When we are faced with difficult situations, instead of blaming and complaining against God, let us recognize that God is in charge no matter what happens to us. This will lead us to praise and worship God despite what we go through."

Lessons in Isaiah

Isaiah 53:5-6 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. Lesson: It could have been us who died because of our sin, but Christ took our place and paid for our sin in full when He died for us on the cross of Calvary. Because of this, salvation is made available to us, which we now enjoy because of our faith in Him. Let us forever be grateful to Him.

Lessons in 1 John

1 John 4:11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. Lesson: The model for us in loving one another is the love of God for us. The way God has loved us is the way we should love one another. He should be our standard, not human love. While God's love is unconditional, sincere, and selfless, human love is often the opposite.
