Jan 2007 retreat

Hello!
Last January 12 and 13, IGS celebrated its 5th year anniversary at Pook Ng biyaya (place of grace), a camp site in San Pablo City Laguna. The celebration was attended by Pastors and workers (close to 85 in number) coming from Laguna, Quezon, Cavite, Batangas, Bicol, Rizal, Mindoro and Metro-manila. Here are the highlights of the said event:

Ø JANUARY 12 (FRIDAY)
2-5 pm – registration and recreation
# Swimming, Board games and Christian “videoke”
6:30 pm – anniversary dinner
# A video presentation of IGS launching on January 25, 2002 at Heritage Baptist Church in Quezon City.
7:30-10:30 pm – anniversary celebration
#Speaker: Pastor Uly Marino, Senior Pastor of First Filipino Baptist Church, Bayonne, New Jersey, He spoke on the theme, Serving the lord joy based of Philippians chapter 4. He spoke on how Christian workers can serve the Lord with joy in spite of demands and difficulties in the ministry.
#A new Ministry was introduced and launched which is called Ministers in God’s Service (MIGS). Membership was needed to be a part of this ministry and close to 70 pastors and workers applied for membership. The concept of the ministry is not really to form an organization but a family the serves the Lord. Eventually this new ministry will be introduced in Mindanao, Palawan and Visayas.

Ø JANUARY 13 (SATURDAY)
· 6:30 am- Breakfast
· 7:45-10:00 am – Fellowship
# Pastor Uly spoke on the same theme based on Acts 16 using Paul and his companions as examples of how it is to be joyful in spite of their painful situation being in prison. It was a very touching message that everyone was challenged to keep on serving the lord no matter what happens.
#IGS gave away gifts to the pastors and workers courtesy of generous companies like gardenia (donated 50 loaves of good bread) and PMPC, distributor of 3M products. Pastor Uly in behalf of FFBC Bayonne New Jersey distributed planners and ball pens to the delight of the pastors and their families.
· 10-12 pm – recreation and sharing time
· 12 noon – Lunch
· 1 pm – departure

To God be the glory for the Great things He has done. To all the members of IGS family let me say, Welcome to the Family!

Lessons in Job

Job 1:20-21 20 At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship 21 and said:“Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised."  Lesson: When we are faced with difficult situations, instead of blaming and complaining against God, let us recognize that God is in charge no matter what happens to us. This will lead us to praise and worship God despite what we go through."

Lessons in Isaiah

Isaiah 53:5-6 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. Lesson: It could have been us who died because of our sin, but Christ took our place and paid for our sin in full when He died for us on the cross of Calvary. Because of this, salvation is made available to us, which we now enjoy because of our faith in Him. Let us forever be grateful to Him.

Lessons in 1 John

1 John 4:11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. Lesson: The model for us in loving one another is the love of God for us. The way God has loved us is the way we should love one another. He should be our standard, not human love. While God's love is unconditional, sincere, and selfless, human love is often the opposite.
