July 2007

I am so excited to share with you where I and some of the IGS people have been this month of July in partnership with First Filipino Baptist Church based in Bayonne, New Jersey, USA.

Pastor Uly Marino, senior Pastor of First Filipino Baptist church of Bayonne New Jersey together with 35+ of his members arrived last week of June to do medical missions in some places in Rizal, Metro Manila and Laguna. IGS volunteers helped in counseling or soul-winning which was the main objective of the mission. Some of the members of my home church, Faith Fundamental Baptist church Antipolo also helped in counseling and doing medical services. The medical missions offered three health services: Medical, Dental and Optical.

Here is the highlight of the Medical mission:
July 1 – orientation at Faith Fundamental Baptist Church, Antipolo city.
July 2 – Medical mission at Golden City Subdivision, Taytay, Rizal. Patients: 300
July 3 – Medical Mission at Floodway, Pasig City. Patients: 400
July 4 – Medical Mission in Payatas, Quezon City (garbage dumpsite of Metro Manila). Patients: 500
July 5 – Medical mission in another site in Payatas, Quezon City. Patients: 300
July 6 – Medical mission in Navotas, Metro-Manila. Patients: 400
July 9- Medical mission in San Pablo City. Patients: 200

On July 9-10, FFBC Bayonne sponsored (free food and accommodation) a Pastors’ and workers’ retreat in cooperation with IGS at Word of life in Calauan, Laguna. It was attended by close to 200 Pastors and workers coming from Metro-Manila, Rizal, Baguio, Pangasinan, La union, Laguna, Batangas, Cavite, Pampanga, Quezon, Leyte and Cagayan de Oro.

On the first night of the retreat, FFBC sponsored a concert by the Potter’s clay composed of mixed quartet. Eventually, Pastor Uly Marino shared a very inspiring message that really touched the hearts of the workers. On the following day, IGS recognized pastors and workers who have been in the christian service for 25 years and above. The recognition was a very emotional part of the program as workers were teary eyed for the joy of being recognized for their faithful service to God.

After the medical mission, the group also visited Subic, Baguio and Bicol. The group just left recently for the US in two batches on July 27-28 respectively.

Personally, let me thank those who in one way or another have contributed to the success of the medical mission and the pastors’ and workers’ retreat. Also, my deepest thanks to Pastor Uly and Members of FFBC for their continuing partnership with IGS.

Please pray for my planned trip to the US this September. The Lord has graciously provided for my airfare. To God be the glory.

Lessons in Job

Job 1:20-21 20 At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship 21 and said:“Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised."  Lesson: When we are faced with difficult situations, instead of blaming and complaining against God, let us recognize that God is in charge no matter what happens to us. This will lead us to praise and worship God despite what we go through."

Lessons in Isaiah

Isaiah 53:5-6 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. Lesson: It could have been us who died because of our sin, but Christ took our place and paid for our sin in full when He died for us on the cross of Calvary. Because of this, salvation is made available to us, which we now enjoy because of our faith in Him. Let us forever be grateful to Him.

Lessons in 1 John

1 John 4:11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. Lesson: The model for us in loving one another is the love of God for us. The way God has loved us is the way we should love one another. He should be our standard, not human love. While God's love is unconditional, sincere, and selfless, human love is often the opposite.
