jan 2, 2007

We have just entered the new year. It is good to know that God is always with us and this is our assurance as we face the year 2007.

By the way, Let me update you of what happened during the youth sports' camp held last December 27-30 in Calaca, Batangas. The theme was "Goin, Growin and glowin for the Gold". Pastor Mike Menez, IGS Executive Director, gave the keynote message. The young people (approximately 300 in attendace) were divided into three groups: Evangelism, discipleship and leadership. These groups met simultanously for Bible study with their respective teachers from IGS. I handled the evangelism group while pastors Jun Cairo and Bayani de Jesus taught the Discipleship and leadership groups respectively. During the consecration night several young people stood up to make commitments to the Lord. Praise God for the result.

This coming January 12-13, 2007, IGS will celebrate its 5th year anniversary to be held at a christian camp in San Pablo City.Because of generous sponsors, the two-day event will be offered free (food and accommodation) to those who will attend. I am expecting around 60 pastors and workers to attend. Our speaker is the pastor of First Filipino Baptist Church of Bayonne, New Jersey, who is no other than Rev. Uly Marino. He will be speaking twice on the theme: Serving the Lord with Joy.

The program is as follows:

-JANUARY 12 (Friday)
*Afternnoon - Recreation (Swimminig, playing table games, Christian Videoke)
*Anniversary Dinner
*Anniversary Celebration

-JANUARY. 13 (Saturday)
*Breakfast
*Morning program
*Recreation
*Lunch

Continue to pray for my plan to go the US in February.

Lessons in Job

Job 1:20-21 20 At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship 21 and said:“Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised."  Lesson: When we are faced with difficult situations, instead of blaming and complaining against God, let us recognize that God is in charge no matter what happens to us. This will lead us to praise and worship God despite what we go through."

Lessons in Isaiah

Isaiah 53:5-6 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. Lesson: It could have been us who died because of our sin, but Christ took our place and paid for our sin in full when He died for us on the cross of Calvary. Because of this, salvation is made available to us, which we now enjoy because of our faith in Him. Let us forever be grateful to Him.

Lessons in 1 John

1 John 4:11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. Lesson: The model for us in loving one another is the love of God for us. The way God has loved us is the way we should love one another. He should be our standard, not human love. While God's love is unconditional, sincere, and selfless, human love is often the opposite.
